Media Meets Literacy in Warsaw is, above all, a learning and networking event taking place in a pleasant atmosphere. It is aimed at 200 Media and Information Literacy professionals from all over Europe – from policymakers and researchers to academics and, in particular, practitioners. The main objective is to create a festive event where the participants can meet, exchange, learn and make plans for future collaboration.
May 21st
We start in the afternoon of May 21st with the Frontstage day, which will be kicked off with a keynote speech by leading media education researcher David Buckingham. During the second half of the afternoon, we present a dozen 12 min. storytelling presentations: educators, academics, policymakers, entrepreneurs, etc from various EU countries will talk about the MIL lessons and insights they want to share.
May 22nd
The second day of the conference will be devoted to fostering interaction and the exchange of ideas between the attendees. During the morning session, participants will have the opportunity to talk with over 40 media education experts from all over Europe, including Anna Derwich from NInA’s education department who will be demonstrating the capabilities of the NINATEKA EDU platform.
Following the morning sessions, the attendees will have their pick of 11 interactive workshop classes led by specialists from a number of different organizations. In this section, in collaboration with l'Institut National de l'Audiovisuel we’ll be leading an interactive workshop class dedicated to innovative media education tools that draw on resources collected in audiovisual archives (including NINATEKA EDU or Fresques). We’ll have presentations of individual education platforms delivered by the creative minds behind them who will demonstrate how to use them properly in order to enhance the learning experience of the students. The workshop class will go on throughout the entire day — you’re welcome to join anytime. The workshop won’t require any additional registration.
